More about Erin

Description:

An intensive workshop for individuals who want to understand the impact of developmental and relational trauma from birth to eighteen on their current lives and adult relationships, and get on a path to heal and move forward. You will investigate the origins of adult dysfunctional behavior and identify childhood wounds/adverse experiences that fuel symptoms such as low esteem, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, chronic pain, workaholism, perfectionism, sex and love addiction, eating disorders, and relationship difficulties. The focus is not on blaming childhood caregivers, but rather healing trauma through examining unresolved, less than nurturing events from the past. You will learn how to move beyond your past and reclaim your authentic self.

I can’t say enough about Erin, the team, and the transformation this practice has had on my life.
Throughout the last year, I’ve grown so much. Erin has guided me in groups, EMDR, and family of origin work. Participating in the Reclaiming Authenticity workshop was the beginning to understanding myself and the roles I played in my relationships. During that weekend, Erin helped me to get in touch with my past and to own my reality and my feelings. It was a powerful experience, and I would highly recommend anyone to participate in this workshop - it’s so worth the time and money.

Location:

4040 N. Central Expressway, Suite 210, Dallas, TX

Benefits:

The Reclaiming Authenticity family of origin intensive will set you up to practice better boundaries, to have healthier relationships, to reduce and release toxic shame, to increase your feeling of inherent self-worth, and to reduce the generational download of trauma and abuse.

Framework:

The framework for Reclaiming Authenticity is based on Pia Mellody’s groundbreaking work and her Post Induction Therapy (PIT) model. Pia Mellody is a pioneer in the treatment of developmental trauma, and has authored Facing CodependenceFacing Love AddictionThe Intimacy Factor, and Breaking Free: A Recovery Workbook for Facing Codependence. The format for the workshop was developed by Pia Mellody for the Survivors I workshop, offered at The Meadows treatment center in Wickenburg, Arizona.

Phases:

Preparation – You will get the most benefit from your intensive if you register early and allow for time to do the preparation work, which includes reading Facing Codependence by Pia Mellody, Growing Yourself Back Up by John Lee, and completing a detailed Family of Origin worksheet packet that will be sent to you and should be returned ten days prior to the workshop.

Education – During this phase you will learn about boundaries and how, as a child, boundaries were possibly violated. You will begin to understand the relationship between the child and the adult as perceived by the child. You will learn about the 5 core issues that developed from childhood adverse experiences and/or neglect, including Self Esteem, Boundaries, Reality, Dependency, and Moderation, and how these manifest into secondary symptoms and relational issues.

Debriefing – This phase is about investigating your past (ages birth to 18), and recalling less-than-nurturing and/or adverse childhood experiences (ACES), and identifying associated feelings.  This process guided by the therapist was developed by Pia Mellody.

Inner Child and Feeling Reduction Work – Guided by the therapist through a series of two specific processes developed by Pia Mellody, you will identify and begin to heal childhood wounds. In this safe and nurturing environment, you will release painful emotions and reclaim your authentic self.

Ongoing Recovery and Empowerment Education – You will receive a set of strategies, tools, and resources to help make permanent these empowering principles in your daily life.
